Gangzai Desert & Xuhai Grass Field(九棚沙漠 & 旭海草原)

This time I want to recommend you two beautiful spots in Manzhou - "Gang-Zai Desert" and "Xu-Hai Grass Field", it has the natural landscape and less vistors than others. Even though it's little bit far, it's worth to visit it.

These two spots is on the same way (and same far), so I suggest you to visit it together. If you drive a car, it will take about 1 hr to there from Kenting. The way is really really far, but also easy, just only one way, so you don't have to worry about getting lost. If you are the kind of preson who loves adventure, I think you can try it.

But I don't suggest you to go there on November untill March. Because of the Occasional Monsoons (northeasterly wind) is very strong, it's not a good idea to visit there in winter.

As you can see, there are few ways to go to Manzhou from Kenting (the yellow lines, means No.26 Road), one is from Hengchun Town (the east ancient walls) , one is from the lighthouse, and one is from Sihchongxi. It depends on which one is closer from you.

The best way to go there is driving by yourself, or you can ask for a tour driver to drive you there. The coastal road is very beautiful, you can see the Pacific Ocean and green mountains.

When you see the sign of Jiou-Peng Village, congratulations, you are already arrive at Gang-Zai Desert. You can see the white hills everywhere, just like a real desert.

In fact, there is no deserts in Taiwan, so it's actually not a desert, just similar. Because of the northeasterly wind is so strong, it brings sands and heap up here. (There is another same spot called "Feng-Chui-Sha" in Kenting.)

Many people come here to try the jeep tour on the sand, it's really excited. You can also climp up the sand hills and slip from it, it's really fun.

The beach here is really beautiful, just like a movie scene, and the sand here is really small and pure. But it's dangerous to play water here, the waves are too strong.

Keep going straight down the road from Jiou-Peng Village, you will be arrive at Xu-Hai Village. Follow the sign "to Xu-Hai Grass Field", and going up to the mountain, after 10 mins, you will be arrive at a parking space.

This is a good place to see the sunrise, you can see the sun rise from the Pacific Ocean, it's very beautiful.

This place is just like a park, it's not really big so you can finish in 15 mins if you walk fast. It's on the top of the mountain, so you can see the gorgeous ocean view and cliffs.

By standing on the top, there are green mountains around, looks very mystery.

Also, there is a hot spring in Xu-Hai Village, and it's free, don't forget to try it next time you come to here. (It's pretty like Sih-Chong-Xi Public Hot Spring which I recommended last time, but bigger and newer)
