Seafood in Houbihu Harbor（後壁湖海鮮）

If you ask me what is the most special food in Kenting, I'll tell you to try the seafoods. It is the most well-known food in Kenting, it tastes really good - and fresh! I think you should try it.



Because of the nearby warm current, there is a large collection of fish in Kenting, many people make a living by fishing here.

So, I think having a seafood meal is one thing you should try in Kenting.


People usually eat seafood at Houbibu Harbor. There is a fish market in the harbor, and many restaurants around it.

There is no any bus pass by here, but it's not really far, you can rent a motorcycle to go there.

●Motorcycle: NT 400 / 24 hrs (need international license)
●Electric scooter: NT 700 / 24 hrs



As you can see, if you start from Kenting main street, you have to turn left at the intersection of Swan Lake Resort. There is a big 7-ELEVEn on the corner so you won't miss it.

After turing, follow the road sign "to Da-Guang", then you will be arrive at Houbihu Harbor. It will takes about 20 mins to there from Kenting main street.

(There are 4~5 turning on the way, just remember, always turn left at every intersections)

This building is a fish market. There are many seafood restaurants in this market, you can also buy some fish-snacks in the store, like squid shreds, it's my favorite.



The fisher pulls the fish on here. They usually sell the fish in the morning.



All the restautants here get fish from the same place,  so actually it's no big difference between them. Just choose one which looks clean.



They show fresh fish in front of their restaurant, some people like to choose fish by themselves, or you can just let the chef to pick.



The sashimi here is very cheap, you must try it!

If you are a seafood-lover like me, I think you will love this fish market very much. There are many kinds of seafood you can have, and it all tastes pretty good.



Many people come to here on weekend, if you don't like to wait for a seat too long, you can also take away, it's also a good way to enjoy the food. (They will put some ice under it to make it keep fresh)



There are some vendors who sell some fired fish in the market, don't forget to give it a try. It tastes really really good, especially the fired squid, I love it very much, I must to eat it everytime I come here, haha. 



After having a seafood meal, remember to buy some fish-snacks in the store, it's a nice gift for your friends, it's all delicious, and you can sample it.

(By the way, the normal opening hour of fish market is from 10AM to 7PM)
